"Art in Torun has not yet had a synthetic approach, although the artistic values of the city have been noticed in historiography since the Middle Ages. Drawing a picture of the history of Torun's art, we wanted to take into account, above all, social and historical determination, which constituted the essence of his art - as a specific artistic environment of his own identity. We intend to indicate the hallmarks of this identity, that is to present Torun as a city of creative possibilities. In the chronological sense, this book presents the art of Torun in the period from the foundation of the city on the present site by the Teutonic Order, to the times of our contemporaries.
